Desiree Deorto, the Prophecy Blog Stop

Desiree Deorto twists a tale in The Prophecy that's sure to delight and keep you turning the pages. This is a tour about the girl behind the story.

Back for some more “Finish the sentence” with Desiree already are we...okay we’ll here you go. :)) Remember you can comment below with your own sentence starter and we’ll get Desi to answer them! (tomorrow they’ll be posted here)

1.       I saw a ghost… and it freaked the hell out of me. Nooooo thank you.

2.       True love… isn't real. True lust that leads to love? Oh yeah.

3.       What happened last night was… NOT my fault

"I'm a stay-at-home mother of four (no, it isn't very glamorous unless you have a fascination with diapers and baby puke)who finally decided to grow a pair and follow one of my passions: writing. I've been known to throw glitter and threaten people with unicorns. I hate writing biographies because they make me feel really 'look at me! Look at me!' when I'm really one of those '*waves hand* this is not the person you were looking for* type. I hope everyone enjoys my books, and look forward to providing more books that everyone will love!"

1.       What was the hardest thing about writing your book?

The hardest thing for me to get over was breaking free of all the negativity that had surrounded me my whole life.  The breaking point was when I only had two more paragraphs to write.  I froze up and went into a panic attack.  Jeremy, my boyfriend of eight years, kept asking what was wrong.  I was so scared and nervous that I literally couldn't speak.  I'd open my mouth and nothing but a stuttering, garbled mess would come out.   I finally had to get a pen and piece of paper and write out what was wrong.  I wrote: “All my life, I've been known as Susie's daughter, who would end up an alcoholic like her.  Dave's daughter, the useless, worthless child.  Every day of my life, I was told that I would never be anything except for useless.  If I finish this, it will strip all of that away.  When it's gone, then who will I be?  I'll lose my only sense of identity that I've had for the past twenty-five years.”  Of course, Jeremy wasn't having any of that. So he took my hand, drug me upstairs, and stared at me while I slowly finished it.  Afterward, he held me while I cried.

2.       Did you have any challenges in bringing it to life?

Yes. My main problem wasn't the story itself. It was listening to people. While I know that they had good intentions and I love them for their help, it ended up being not what I wanted. Not what I pictured.  I was so scared that no one would like it that I listened to all the critics and who their favorite authors were.  I sent the first draft to my Beta's, and Patti Larsen, an absolutely amazing friend and fabulous author, sent back a long email stating in detail what it was missing.  Funny thing is is that everything she stated is what I wanted to begin with.  So thanks to her kicking me in the (figurative) balls, I wrote it how it was meant to be written.

3.       Give us an interesting fun fact or a few about The Prophecy or the series:

The story of Shiloh is actually a local legend here in Indiana.  The legend is that in Shiloh Cemetery, there is a Warlock buried there.  There is an ever growing chain around his headstone, and every year it has to be cut back. If the chain ever links together, the warlock will be released and doom humanity insert evil laugh here

1.       What were you doing before you started this?

Drinking coffee lol and running though the list of things I needed to do.

2.       Summer or Winter

3.       Hugs or Kisses?

4.       Grab the book nearest to you, turn to page 18, and find line 4.

'They were in a tunnel, six feet wide and forty yards long, its rock walls lined with a series of recessed tubes providing illumination.' No Words Alone by Autumn Dawn

The people of Shiloh, Virginia thought it was just a story. A legend to keep children from misbehaving. A challenge to prove you have courage. What they didn't know was that it was real. All of it was real.

When Starlette McKinley moved from the sparkling lights of LA to the sleepy town of Shiloh, she didn't know that she would be the catalyst. She didn't know that the rage and energy pulsing through her would be the key to unleashing an insurmountable power that would either be the saving of mankind, or its destruction.

The blood will run, and the prophecy will be revealed. But will she be able to overcome the insurmountable odds? Or will she succumb to the energy within, welcoming the darkness that has become her only friend.

5 Stars to Blackened Heart from Romance Addiction

Just had to share this awesome review Blackened Heart received!

My Review: 5 out of 5 Stars
LOVED this novella! Blackened Heart is the novella that picks up where Beautiful Strangers left off with country music star Jaxson Hayes. He is going on tour with Sadie Blake, the other half of Blackened Sunrise. Jaxson is nursing a broken heart over how things were left between himself and Gracie. He also wants to pursue his solo career, if he can only get out of his contract with Sadie.

My Interview with Jaxson Hayes

Interview with Jaxson Hayes
There is a knock at my door, Jaxson Hayes comes strutting in and gives me a look, a look that says I could make your panties drop within minutes. I have to snort at that look, don’t think the love would appreciate him eyeing me like Sunday dinner.
Me: So Jaxson, what would you like to talk about today?

Jaxson: Whether you have been good or bad?

Me: Rolls eyes, blushes. I am always good.

Jaxson: Let’s find out! He stands and starts to cross the room.

Me: Sit down tiger, control yourself!
Me: You just came back from being on tour, I hear you reunited with Sadie Blake and I'm not just talking musically. What was it like working with her again?

Jaxson: It was like being in a time warp. Things were almost like they were when I first started in the business.  But some things no matter how much they change remain the same.

Me: If you could say one thing to Grace today, what would you tell her?

Jaxson: Fuck, are we going there?
Me: Why not, you know people want to know...

Jaxson: I would tell her I’m sorry for being such a dick. I hope she is happy? Is she happy, because I am available for a reunion.

Me: You really are a dick aren't you?
Jaxson: He starts singing “Simply Red” ‘If You Don’t Know Me’

Me: Smartass!

Jaxson; It’s been real, whatever. But I have some fine ladies waiting. We are taking a boat out on the lake. Fishing, beer, bbq on the grill, and bikinis are optional, want to come?

Me: Maybe next time.

Interview with Author William O'Brien

Interview with Author William O'Brien

Hello William, thank you for chatting with us!

1.) Your novel is titled peter A Darkened Fairytale, tell us something about it that will encourage readers to pick it up.

PETER: A Darkened Fairytale is a children's novel- rough age range 11-13 but fun for adults too!
 Peter: A Darkened Fairytale
It is a strange mix of bizarre characters and magical hidden worlds- people have compared it to a dark Alice in Wonderland, Lion with and the Wardrobe and early Harry Potter.

For all those imaginative souls

A fascinating tale takes the reader on a true flight of fantasy into amazing far-off lands, dramatically expanding the imagination and touching the heart. An exploration of the senses is tantalized through the many unusual characters, while exploring alternate realities. A placid opening of the mystical realms should not be underestimated as they soon lead off and reach into some of the darkest corners of the mind. A gentle fairytale twists along its path into an unusual and disturbed adventure

2.) Do you have a WIP (work in progress) that you want to tell us about.
a) 'Peter, Ghosts and Stardust' - a book of poetry which may contain a few short stories
b) A follow-up novel to PETER: A DARKENED FAIRYTALE
c) Another poetry book- very dark
d) Writing a script to hopefully stage a short theater play of PETER: A DARKENED FAIRYTALE

3.) Do you have a hidden talent?
Oh yes, I see ghosts... only joking! Hmmmm.... or am I?

4.) Favorite joke?

I don't have one but anything silly makes me giggle!

5.) If you cold spend the day with any character from a book, who would you choose and what would you do?

Kiylore the dragon.

6.) Top 5 favorite books.

Alice in Wonderland
Picture of Dorian Grey
Grimm Fairytales
The Faraway Tree
Zen Flesh Zen Bones

7.) Do you have favorite time of the day to write?
I do tend to function better later in the day and late at night.

8.) Any advice you would give an aspiring author?
Never give up and always write your true voice.

Listen to most people but take the advice of few.

Living in a small village in Lancashire, England, the author has written his first book, Peter. In the 1990s, the author had twenty-one articles published, both nationally and internationally. After gaining an honours degree in Geosciences, doing post-graduate study in Occupational Health and Fitness, and earning a masters degree in Science Communication, he developed an interest for simple communication. A passion for writing again emerged, and combining various interests in fine art, museum exhibition display, biology, geology, poetry, and the mystical led to the story of Peter: A Darkened Fairytale. The author still retains a childlike vision of the world, which is conveyed throughout the book.

Interview with Author S.K. Hartley

Interview with S.K. Hartley
Hello S.K., thank you for chatting with us!
1.)Your upcoming release is titled Finding You, tell us about it.
Finding You is the first book in the Bad Boy Series, it is all about love, heartbreak and desire. I really wanted to get across how crippling heartbreak could be whether it be for the person you have fallen in love with or a family member. The plot is centred around a love triangle, three individually unique characters are forced to face love, pain and reality. You can't help but fall in love with the characters which in the end leaves you completely torn. Finding You is my baby as there is true life experiences in there and I can't wait to share it with you.
2.)Who inspires you the most and why?
It has to be Katy Evans, she inspires me a great deal. She gave us such a heart wrenching story filled with so much passion and pain, I really respect her as an author and of course she is just totally awesome for giving us that perfect specimen of a man!
3.)Chest hair or smooth chest on a man? (obviously) ha ha
Has to be a smooth chest, I don't mind a small amount of chest hair but who wants to cuddle up to a hairy gorilla, ugh. {Shudders}
4.)Name any book you would love to see made into a movie.
Hands down, the Existence Trilogy by Abbi Glines, It was my first and only paranormal romance I have ever read and I fell in love with it and of course Dank Walker {Fans Face}
5.)Top five bands.
Parachute (Kiss me slowly is amazing!)
Black Crowes
Def Leppard
6.)Chicken or fish?
Definitely chicken, I hate any form of seafood. If it came from the sea it can stay there!
7.)Something people don’t know about you that might surprise us?
I have a huge phobia of the sea (Thalassophobia) Hence the hatred of seafood!
8.)Sexiest thing about a man?
Just the one? If I really had to pick one it would be dangerous eyes, the ones that scream sin are unbelievably sexy.

Interview with Author Rachel Brookes

Interview with Author Rachel Brookes
 Rachel Brookes

Thank you for stopping by and chatting with us!

1.)    You are set to release your first novel Just Breathe this coming July, tell us about it.

Just Breathe is written from Savannah Rae’s pov. Savannah is Australian and has had a tragic upbringing which has seen her do some things that she isn’t proud of. Sav gets an opportunity to flee her past for a new start in Los Angeles. Just Breathe is a story of angst filled moments, trying to find a way to survive and overcome struggles while looking for new beginnings. Oh and two words… Tate Connors.
 Just Breathe
2.)    What inspired you to write this book?

I think everyone has a moment in their life where they were shaken to the core and broken to the point that they think they will never be able to mend. A moment where everything is questioned and a decision needed to be made whether to sink or survive. I know I certainly have. Writing this book was very therapeutic and I mostly wanted to show people that through the darkest times, sunshine still shines brightly.

3.)    You are from Australia, what is one of the most annoying questions you get when people learn where you are from?

I mostly find questions about Australia really funny. I get asked a lot about kangaroos, guys and my accent. I love talking about my country so questions are always welcomed. I might have to make a video and say a bunch of Aussie phrases one day. And yes I do say gday and mate on a daily basis. Because Sav is Australian, readers will learn a little about Australia.

4.)    Who is your hottie of all hotties muse for your character Tate?

Ahhh Tate Connors. I had so much fun creating and writing his character. I didn’t actually have anyone in particular in mind. I could see him in my head but couldn’t find him if you know what I mean. I am leaning very closely towards Matt Lanter as an inspiration… it’s those eyes and that smirk. I am more excited to hear who people imagine as Tate.

5.)    What is your favorite drink?

Alcoholic definitely a long island ice tea, non-alcoholic would have to be a white hot chocolate.

6.)    Where do you see yourself in five years as a writer?

Hopefully still sitting in my apartment at 3pm and busily tapping away at my laptop and realizing I am still in my pj’s. I hope to be writing stories that people enjoy reading. I love to write and I have been writing in some form since I was young so no matter what I’ll always be doing it. I have a lot of ideas crammed into my head just begging to be unleashed onto the world.

7.)    What book do you wish were a movie?

Anything of Abbi Glines, but if I had to pick one I would love to see Fallen Too Far.

8.)    What is the title for your next book? And what would you like to tell us about it?

I am throwing around a couple of ideas for the title and it will definitely be in relation to Just Breathe. With Just Breathe the title popped into my head so I am expecting book two to do the same. The next book will continue where Just Breathe left off. It will wrap up the story of Savannah and Tate. I already know that I will shed tears when I type the end.  I am really REALLY excited about book two. There are lots of twists and turns and of course more Australian awesomeness thrown in there. I love being able to write and use Australian words and phrases.

Rachel Brookes is from a coastal town on the east coast of Australia where beaches, kangaroos and surfers roam free. She writes angst ridden love stories with a pinch of craziness, a dash of drama, a cup of romance, a spoonful of sexiness and the main ingredient hot guys. Rachel sometimes forgets to eat, sometimes forgets to sleep and sometimes can’t remember the last time she cleaned her apartment but that’s because she is in a long term relationship with her laptop and they are constantly writing together.  When she does step away from her laptop she can be found taking too many photos, making scrumptious cocktails, laughing at Adam Sandler movies and spending her time with her amazing family and friends. With her first novel, Just Breathe, due to be released in July 2013, her dream of releasing a book will become reality. With another three books already taking up her mind, she cannot wait to start this crazy ride.

Blackened Heart Extended Teaser

********This material is intended for an adult audience of 18+************
Unedited and may change during final publication.....
                Blackened Heart      Coming Soon

I make my way to the indoor pool, and since it’s late I get it all to myself, or so I thought. Just as I am getting ready to jump in, I see Sadie’s head popping up at the ladder.
“Nothing like a late night swim to clear my mind,” she breathes getting out of the pool. And as much as I don’t want to look, I can’t help but notice how good she looks in her red bikini. And the way the water is dripping from her like thousands of tiny diamonds is mesmerizing, but there’s only one problem; Sadie isn't Gracie. That small fact doesn't stop my dick from betraying me, and fuck if she doesn't notice. I shake my head and try to shake the trance she has my dick in away.
But playing games with Sadie could be the distraction I need to push Grace far from my mind. She begins drying herself with a towel.  She looks at me with the look that says she is more than ready to play. I begin stalking my prey, slinking towards her slowly.  I stalk closer until I have her pressed with her back to the nearest wall. I trap her there placing a hand on each side of her face.
“Look at me,” I command and she obeys. I used to get lost in the sea of green her eyes hold. “I know and you know that you want nothing more than to wrap those skinny legs around my waist.” I lean in like I am about to claim her lips, stopping just close enough she can feel my lips as I speak, though hers aren't touching mine. ”Fuckings never been our problem has it? I bet your wet right now and I don’t mean from the water.” I trail my fingers down her side and stop right at the edge of her bottoms, right above her hip bone. I can see her lips tremble slightly as she chews the inside of her mouth nervously.
“I bet your panties are about to melt at the thought of tasting my mouth on yours.”
Placing her arms around my neck she says to me “Baby you couldn't melt my panties, if you had a blow torch between your legs.”
“I beg to differ sweetheart,” I place my hand over her heart. I tap my hand in tune with each beat. “I can feel it and hear it Sadie, your heart sings for me.”

“Fuck you, Jax! One day you are going to meet someone who will swallow your blackened heart whole!” I leave her panting and walk away laughing. This final tour might be the best one yet.

Thank you for taking the time to chat with us!

1.)    Your first book Reaching Out for You is set to release June 9, tell us a bit about your book.
It’s about finding yourself again and realizing your own worth.  It’s a love story with moments that will make you laugh and cry. Sophia has been through so much throughout her life but life always has a way of surprising you so when she’s reunited with her old best friend Adam, life gets a little better. But she’s with Kyle and holding a dark secret. Will Adam be able to save her?
Reaching Out For You (Never Letting Go #1)
2.)    What inspired the title of your book?

I was playing around with some words and searching the internet to make sure there weren’t any other books with this possible title. Sophia inspired me. She’s always reaching out for Adam.

3.)    What has been the hardest part of writing your first novel?

Scared that I won’t be successful. I’ve been playing around with this idea for quite some time but I’ve been nervous about going forward. Sandi Lynn, author of Forever Black and Forever You, truly inspired me to push forward and start writing.

4.)    Any advice you would give to an aspiring author?
Write for yourself. You can’t please everyone. Always be thankful and never stop dreaming.

5.)    Do you think a romance novel has to have a HEA (happily ever after)?
At first it didn't but I wanted to give Adam and Sophia justice. I love HEA novels and I wanted them to have their own little HEA.

6.)    What is the name of your WIP (work in progress)?  What would you like to share about it?
I am currently working on two WIP’s. Teach Me Love and Remember Me.

Teach Me Love follows Jacob and Abigail as they teach each other how to love again.

Remember Me tells a story about a father reading a story to his daughter about love and being able to let go.

Yep I am leaving you all on the edge of your seat!

7.)     If you could co-write with any author who would you choose and why?
Just ONE!? Honestly, in a perfect world, I’d want to co-write with Kendall Ryan. I adore her and her sassiness. She’s a riot and I would have the most amazing time with her. I love her books and truly admire her.

8.)    Tell us something readers might be surprised to learn about you.
I am probably one of the shyest people you will ever meet. It doesn't seem like it but I get very quiet around a group of new people! In a way, I am like Sophia.

Author Bio:
I live in Webster, NY with my husband, family and friends. I love to read, write, and hang out with my loved ones. I graduated with my BA from St. John Fisher College. I love to learn new things and am always striving for the best.

Defining Erotica

Today my rant is about the definition of erotica in the book world. If you Google erotica here is an example of what you might find Erotic Literature, but this definition doesn't please me. When choosing categories for a novel to be listed under for example; Romance the field is way too broad. The same goes for erotica. Does a book having sex written in it mean it is erotic? My author friends say no. They say what defines erotica is if it makes the reader feel aroused.  Don't laugh but apparently I write erotica and didn't even know it.  For some reason, I thought to write erotic literature meant to write about bondage and such. I know, again don't laugh. But the problem lies in the fact that you can not clearly define the term in the book world, where there aren't any rules it seems. The definition of erotica is literature or art intended to arouse sexual desire.  So why can't it be clearly defined? I will tell you. Because what may seem erotic to one may be vanilla to another. Therefore leaving the lines blurred.  What do you think?

Interview with Author Morgan Jane Mitchell

Interview with Author Morgan Jane Mitchell
Thank you for stopping by and chatting with us!
1.) You have been writing for 15 years +, how fulfilling is it to see your name listed on sites such as Amazon, Barnes and Noble, iTunes and Kobo Books and read reviews from people who love what you are writing?
It is amazing and something I would have never done without a good friend wink wink telling me I should finish and publish Sanguis City. When someone likes my work from the Sangius City Series, I jump up and down...I am so excited. In the past I have had over 600 reviews on my fan fiction and today I still get excited when I see a new one come through my email. Every time someone likes my writing, it motivates me more.
2.) You recently released two novellas, The Education Of Lilanoir Rue, and My Name is Noir. I read them both and loved them! Both take place before your upcoming release Sanguis City, tell us about all three.
The Education of Lilanoir Rue is about the main character's life before she flees to the city of Blood. She was born after the world ended, and she is not quite the same as the humans that live on the Human Reservation. Lily learns a lot about herself and her community in this novella. It's a bit of mystery...
My Name is Noir continues to follow Lily on her journey to Sanguis City. Things are very different there but she is determined to start a new life. Things don't go so well for her even after she changes her name. It's a bit of a cliffhanger... and sexy!
Sanguis City is coming in July. Noir has finally found her place in the city made by and for vampires but when she starts dating an authentic vampire she gets caught in a web of nightmares. Her past won't leave her alone and may just get her killed.

3.) If you could have a sit down with an author, who would you choose and what would you talk about?
Charlaine Harris and I need to have a chat over a casserole and some sweet tea. I would ask her why, oh why, did she have to make me love Eric Northman just to treat him so poorly in the end?
4.) Name a book you would love to see made into a movie.
I would have said I want to see the Southern Vampire Mysteries as a movie, line by line but scratch that now. Kim Harrison's Hallow series! Who would play Rachel Morgan? I don't know but I have my popcorn ready!
5.) If Sanguis City were made into a movie, who would you like to see play Noir?
I am not big on celebrities, I feel so old... I am always like, who is that? Before I picked Scarlett Johansson because she's beautiful and I enjoyed her in The Avengers. Noir will have to kick some butt!
6.) If you could hangout with any character from any book who would you choose, what would you do?
Sorry to my husband, but someone needs to cheer up poor Eric Northman. I guess I am moving to Oklahoma!
7.) Life in the country or in the city?
You know, I just got back from NYC. It was amazing!! But I wouldn't want to live there. Anywhere I go in KY people talk, they are so friendly. I love to talk to strangers and that is something you just can't do in the city. Plus, I love the outdoors... I am getting ready to go plant some tomatoes after this interview!
8.) Who inspires you the most and why?
If we are talking in general, I would have to say that my hero is Hillary Clinton. I love a smart “tell it like it is” woman. (I have so many in my family that I could list here too) She is the only thing that could get me back in politics. If someone said, Hillary is running again... I would throw down my novel and start Blogging! There are so many reasons why, and I am almost in tears thinking that she almost made it!
