Carpe Noctem Morgan Jane Mitchell Review

Carpe Noctem
Morgan Jane Mitchell

Carpe Noctem (Sanguis City 2)

It’s no fun being an unlicensed bleeder in the city of blood, especially one who has to deal with being the better half of a vampire god.
Being juiced used to be her biggest fear until she discoveries the alternative. Mandatory service sounds a lot like slavery to Noir. Good thing her sexy captor has a bigger problem, they all do…
Trouble follows Noir as she escapes the vampire culture into The Fringe, where the most rebellious humans dwell. Among them, she just might find the witch to make her one wish come true, if he doesn't find her first.
With the city on lockdown, trying to flush out the designers of the latest zombie virus, talk of a rebellion puts everyone on edge. The bleeders are caught in the middle, enforcing curfews and sanctions to punish all humans. Noir may be busy fighting her own battles with the men in her life, but she can’t ignore her place in the upcoming battle for long.
Is she a pawn in a more sinister plot or is she the key to saving the city? What will happen if Noir decides to seize the night?

My  5 Fangfuckingtastic Stars Review

Blown away by this book! You learn a lot in this book. I am so torn between who is my favorites. Noir is taken for quite an adventure, one word-Zombies.

There was some really hot moments that had me fanning myself. I love Sander so much, I can't wait to find out more about Willow!

Quixon, where do I begin, I want to trust him and love him... but won't say more in fear of spoilers. The dynamic between all of the characters are fantastic, and I really got a great sense of the world Noir lives in. I need to know more about all of them! I didn't want this book to end.

I have so much I want to gush about with this book, but you really have to read it and see where Noir finds herself. Who should she trust, how should she use her wish, or whom should she use it for? Read it find out, Seize the night!

Overcoming Writer's block

So you have writer's block, that totally sucks. I feel ya, I do. But don't fret, we all go through it. Some writers will say push through and keep writing, even if it is shit. Sometimes you just have to take a step back from what you are working on. Other times it is as easy as working on a different chapter or working on a different piece all together. But every now and then I get a real nasty case of ICWFS (I can't write for shit) so what do I do? I save my work and walk away. I spend my time doing other things I enjoy.

So here is a list of things to do if you find yourself with  a case of ICWFS

  • Watch crappy reality TV
  • Read a book
  • Paint
  • Take a walk
  • Watch a  movie
  • Bake something
  • Listen to music
  • Read a magazine
  • Talk to a good friend
  • Make a new friend if you don't have any (let's face it, us writers are a bit anti-social

There are plenty of other things to busy yourself with, but don't you give up it will pass.

I'm not sorry...

So let me start off by saying I have the most amazing group of readers, ya'll seriously are so amazing. You have no idea what your continued support means to me. Now this post may get me on authors behaving badly list, but I am not sorry. So why write it you ask/ because I have to say this, I have to get it off my chest.
The definition of fiction is as follows Fiction is the form of any work that deals, in part or in whole, with information or events that are not real, but rather, imaginary and theoretical—that is, invented by the author. source Wikipedia

Now that said when I started writing my Black Rebel Riders' MC Series I had not read one biker/MC book not one. I didn't know there was a guide I had to follow that I had to do certain things to write a biker book. What am I talking about? The past few days I have been getting called out for changing terms normally used in biker books. I didn't know it was mandatory. So what I call church-choir, prospects-potentials, old lady's-top bitch.  It was what I wanted. I am an artist, my stories are my art, and I'm not sorry. I knew people would complain but to discount the story for it is ridiculous. I didn't want to write a carbon copy of all the other biker books, I'm not knocking them because I have read some amazing ones now. But I wanted mine to be different I don't want to be like everyone else. I have my own story to tell, if I didn't I would be writing fan-fiction. And hey there is nothing wrong with that either, but this is my series, my story and if I want it to be different that's okay. So no I won't change the terminology to please a few people and no I'm not sorry. Peace love and hair grease or some shit, that is all :)

Baby Book 3 Black Rebel Riders' MC Teaser

Baby

Book 3

Black Rebel Riders' MC

Glenna Maynard

Preface

Our life isn't pretty— it's rough. We thrive on blood, sweat, tears, family, moonshine and most of all motorcycles...

They say a woman's heart is an ocean of secrets and I will do anything to protect mine. Cradling my newborn son in my arms, I already know what I must do. I am going to give Sunshine and Grim the gift of a son. They can give him things I can't.  What matters is that I do what's best for this dark haired angel who is depending on me to give him the world. I can't provide him the family he deserves, his father doesn't have a clue he belongs to him and he never will if I have anything to do with it. How do you stay when the person who owns your heart, body and soul belongs to another? Where do broken hearts go when home is all you know, but home is where he is...

Is there such a thing as loving someone too much–too hard? I think maybe the world wasn't ready for the love we shared, it was a ride or die love. Love either grows or dies. If it grows, it expands beyond the depths of our reach, but if it dies, there is no getting it back.

God how I loved that boy and the man I thought he would be, but that boy grew up and that man only ever existed in my heart. I can't say exactly where it all went wrong, not that any of it was ever right to start with. So how I did I get to this point. I guess you could say it began the day I discovered I never really was in love with Rebel Black and in time, I found myself drawn to someone new.

Never Too Late Review and Giveaway by Morgan Jane Mitchell

My 5 star review for Never Too Late
Rick!!! okay now that I got that out of my system, this picks up after In too Deep, but also you get Rick's POV, which all I can say amazing. Morgan has a talent for writing and executing sex scenes with such precision, I am almost convinced she is a surgeon of words, if that even makes sense. But anyway I loved getting to find out what in the heck happened after being left with that cliffy in part 1. Lots of questions are answered, leaving me with new ones. What can I say I am hooked, can't wait to read what is next. Holy Hotness ! This book will set your kindle on fire :)
In Too Deep by Morgan Jane Mitchell
"I'm going to fix you Loraine. I know what you need... you've never been with a real man. You need to let a man take charge for a change."
Loraine has no problem getting what she wants from a new man every night but has never let one in... literally. Rick needs it multiple times a day but has never kissed a woman, on the mouth that is... When two sex addicts agree to cure each other so they can be with other people, will they get in too deep?
************************************
Never Too Late by Morgan Jane Mitchell
2 sex addicts had a deal... It didn't include falling in love...
The wildly anticipated second installment in the erotic romance series Table 21 includes Rick's POV and what comes after In Too Deep, a novella featured in bestselling erotica Forbidden Fruit Vol. 1.
Loraine, a sexual encounters addict wasn't suppose to have a fear of penetration. A freak of nature, she'd never let a man in until Rick decided he would fix her. Rick thought he hit the jackpot making a deal to be Loraine's daily fix. An addict himself, he thought he could fulfill his own addictions while he broke her in for another man... and so he could marry that man's rich Mother... until he fell in too deep. When a deal between two sex addicts leads to nothing but trouble and heartache, Rick and Loraine rediscover their addictions. Both think it's too late for love until Rick, doing the unthinkable, takes matters into his own hands.

Tabby's Tantalizing Reviews : Review: Grim (Black Rebel Riders' MC #1) by Glenna...

Tabby's Tantalizing Reviews : Review: Grim (Black Rebel Riders' MC #1) by Glenna...: Summary My name is Grim and this is the beginning... This isn't a fairytale romance or for the faint of heart. Deep in the hills ...

Black Rebel Riders' MC Series

First of all, can I just say that I have the best readers. You all have just latched on to Grim and you don't know how much I love you for loving him as much as I do. So I have several of you wanting to know if this is a series, if it continues with Grim and if the books will be longer. Here is what I can tell you books two and three are started. I am not comfortable releasing any more information as far as title and characters go, because a lot of things change during the writing process. Grim will be in the future books. Future books in the series will be a lot longer. Initially Grim was going to be part of an anthology, and I parted ways with the group due to the story not really fitting anymore after I seen the turn it was taking. So that is why Grim was on the short side. I can say that I am excited to see where these characters go and I hope you all will come on the ride with me and the Black Rebel Riders'.

Love,

Great Expectations...killing the dream

When I first got started in publishing my books, I was blind to so many things. I had no expectations, things like ranks and review averages weren't even on my radar. I was just living the dream. I was meeting so many wonderful people who were just getting started like myself. We had fun, we interviewed each other and shared a passion...a passion for reading and writing memorable stories. But now here I sit a year later and the fun is being sucked out of writing. It has become a nasty competition.

And so many times I have said it is not a competition, but let's face it- it is. It has become all about look at my rank, I have sold this many copies to your meager beginnings. And it hurts me, that this is what it has become. I want to go back to when I didn't care. I want to spend late nights shooting the shit with wonderful poets on twitter and sending man candy pictures back and forth with my girlfriends just for the hell of it.  I am going to be taking a step back from marketing and get back to writing. I am tired of constantly whoring myself to giveaways, hoping that the winner will rave about my book, when and if they ever read it.

Writers I met that I thought were great friends were out to use me, the signs were there I just chose to ignore them.  I look at this one person, whom I thought had this light, it just shined, she was so eager, so excited just to be writing and talking. I saw a part of me in her, we no longer talk and I watch her from afar. She  has done really well and I am truly happy to watch her succeed, but what hurts me is when I see her trample on the people that  supported her when no one was there. I hope I never become that way and that I will always have a connection with the people who have stayed by my side. I know people grow and change but you don't step on your friends to get there.

I got off track for a moment, the competition is sucking the life out of the indie community. There is a great group of writers that I am so thankful to get to chat with on a weekly basis, they understand me some days better than I understand myself. But there are others, they will go to any lengths to sale a book. I don't want to be one of those people. I just want to write and hope people get something out of the words I have bled on to the paper. I don't want to let great expectations kill my dreams. So what I haven't hit  some of the top list. I have accomplished way more than I ever thought I would, and I am happy being me. I am happy if I only sale one book a day, but at the same time, I want to feed my family with my books. This is my journey and mine alone, I don't pretend to have all of the answers or know where I am headed in this writing world. But what I do know is that I won't allow great expectations to kill my dream...

How to write the perfect book

So you want to know how to write the perfect book? The answer is really simple- no one knows. Yep that is right. There is no perfect book. It doesn't exist. So what are you supposed to do? You go forth and you write whatever in the hell you want. Easy right?

Writing Tips 101

I get various messages asking for my advice on writing. Here is the best piece of advice I can give you- JUST WRITE. Yep it is that simple. Write from the heart, write what you love and what you want to read. Don't get caught up in what's hot at the moment. Tell the story that's living and breathing inside of you. Write it your way. Only you can tell your story. They say everything has been written  and guess what it probably has, but not with your own unique way of telling a story that you possess the life of. Everyone has a different process for how they write, I have my own strange way of doing things. Some authors have their blurb (synopsis) written before they have sat down to write the book. Me? I can't do it that way because I go into my work one page at a time for the most part. I don't do extensive outlining. I have scraps of paper and post its with little notes about ideas or conversations. That is about as fancy as I get.  I have so much more to tell you but it is dinner time at my house. I will post more soon.

FaceBook I'm breaking up with you

Dear FaceBook,

I am breaking up with you. It's not me it's most definitely you. Why is that  do you ask? Well for one you are extremely nosey. It is none of your business what my phone number is or whether or not I played t-ball at four. You are constantly changing, I can't keep up. You give me whiplash. Make up your mind already! Like pages used to be a great way to meet new readers and find new authors or blogs or companies I wanted to get to know, but now you are asking the little man for money. I am sorry but if I am going to invest in advertising it is going to be with someone who puts the money where it's mouth is and reaches who it promises to reach. Why do people bother to like pages if you aren't going to show the people who like it anything that is posted. I am an Indie author and it is a tough gig. I mean tough, you ever heard of a one man publishing house? Well that is what an Indie author does, and no it isn't your fault I am a struggling writer in hopes of reaching the masses. But you know what is your fault- that I have lost out on the one place that was a great avenue to reach the people who like my books and want to keep up with me without having to friend me and even now if they friend me they still don't see me, unless I look like a conceited ass-hat who likes and comments on all her own post before anyone else does, just so that they are visible. When I first started my like page last year my post would on a good day reach 1,000 people and now I am lucky to reach 50, so thanks for ruining what once was a enjoyable site for the little guys like me. And there are lots of us who I am sure will agree that no it's not me it's you.

Sincerely,

Glenna

Smelling the roses...

Getting back to me...
My first year in Indie world has been a crazy ride. April 10 will make one year since I have published my first book Beautiful Strangers. I now have 5 published titles and am preparing to release number six. I have made so many new friends and learned so many things but in the process I have lost a piece of me.
I am taking a step back- the all day promoting and networking is taking a toll on me personally. I have forgotten all of the other things that I love to do. This weekend I did a small craft project and it was so refreshing. I had forgotten what it was like to paint for fun! How do you forget something like that? Crazy I know. But the market is changing quicker than I can type up this post. Authors are feeling the pressure to pump books out like a damn machine and I'm tired of shoving my books down people's throats and screaming buy it-read it-love it...  I hope readers hear about my books and love them as much as I do but it isn't going to consume my every moment like it has been. There really is no point to this post except that it's okay to step back sometimes and stop and smell the roses.

Why my books might not be for you and why I'm okay with it...

Why my books might not be for you and why I'm okay with that...

Not everyone is going to fall in love with my writing and I'm okay with that. I write in first person present point of view. Almost all of my characters are from the south because I'm from the south and my writing reflects this.

My stories contain language, graphic sex, violence and sometimes drug use. All of which can be offensive for some readers.  For example my first book Beautiful Strangers is written in the point of view of a speed addict and it is written to make you feel as though you are chasing the high with her. Many readers have said they felt like they were experiencing the characters high while reading. My bestselling romantic suspense novel I'm with You has self harm and touches on mental health which can be a trigger for some readers.

If you love overly descriptive or wordy written filler then you aren't going to enjoy my writing. I write what I want to read. I am not the type of writer who will tell you the skye was the bluest of blues unless it is important to the story. I'm not going to write about it or waste my time describing something that I myself would want to skim.

Would I love to have everyone who reads my work think it's the greatest thing ever? Of course but I write for entertainment not to win any literary awards. I write real gritty raw romance that is full of angst and heartache. One of the best compliments I have received is on how real my characters are.

I'm still growing and learning each day that I continue to write. One day I hope you take a chance on me and fall in love with the stories I've written and continue to write... But if you don't I'm okay with that.

Facebook etiquette for writers part 1

Let's talk Facebook etiquette. Yes there is such a thing in the writing world. Hey I get it, you wrote this awesome book- you can't wait to shout it out to the masses...I wrote a book buy it-read it-love it- oh and leave a review. Oh and by the way I have a page go give it a like and share it with your friends This isn't too much to ask right?

There is a way to do things on Facebook when approaching authors, bloggers and readers. What? You mean I can't just friend them and then shove my stuff down their throat and expect them to love me and be my instant friend forever? No...

When reaching out to other authors and blogs here's some tips.
1. A brief message with hi my name is____ is a wonderful way to introduce yourself.
2. If you aren't familiar with a fellow authors work don't lie. Be honest.
3. There is a difference between a working relationship and a friendly relationship.
4. Sending other authors a message saying hi I just liked your page can you do the same is a turn off for most. There are groups and events for those type things on Facebook.
5. Messaging the same impersonal message to everyone can be tacky.

I used to think sending out invites to everyone on my friends list for page likes and events was  perfectly fine. Until I started getting bombarded with them from people who had never even had one conversation with me, not even hi thanks for accepting my friend request. Which I don't expect from anyone who is friending me from book world. But do not friend an author, blogger, or reader and spam them. And by spamming I mean sending numerous request to like 15 different pages and inviting them to 30 events in one week. One it's annoying and two people will unfriend you for less.

And most importantly everybody talks. If you say something on Facebook be prepared for people to know about it or don't say it. Screenshots people- people take screenshots so even when you think things are private they aren't.

I am sure I am leaving out something important but it's early I need caffeine and I'm sure there might be a part two to this post in the future. And I hope I made some sense.  Next post I'll be talking about reviews. Remember these are my experiences... You have your own journey ahead of you.
