☆●☆☆●☆Hotseat☆●☆☆●☆ Five questions with M. Stratton

Eek! today I have the fantabulous M. Stratton in my hotseat! She is my brand of crazy and has a fork stabbing fetish, maybe. Ha ha kidding kidding or am I?

About the author

M. Stratton is an International Amazon bestselling author in the romantic suspense and mystery suspense categories for her debut novel After the Storm. She is a self-proclaimed dork that loves to make people laugh and can trip over nothing. Her inner rock star is always on stage performing to a sold out crowd but is quiet and shy on the outside.

She lives with her husband and son in Arizona, which is a big difference from where she grew up north of Chicago Illinois. As an only child she learned to tell herself stories to make the long winters go by quicker while dreaming of summer vacations. Now as an adult she still makes up stories to pass the time, but now she writes them down to share with other people.

When not writing you can find M. watching football (Go Bears!), NASCAR, or classic movies, watching her husband and father restore classic cars, and seeing who can be sillier, her or her son, and of course reading.

Things you don’t know about M. Stratton:
1. She loves the movie Twister… she can say all the lines along with the actors. She will also use those lines in real life as often as possible.

2. Halloween is her favorite holiday. She starts planning months in advance. She has more Halloween decorations than Christmas.

3. She once made up a monologue about her love of chocolate chip cookie dough for her high school drama class.

4. There are times she thinks she is so funny she has tears running down her face while laughing at herself.

5. M. can play the clarinet but is in awe of anyone who can play the guitar, piano or drums, pretty much anything where your hands have to do two different things at the same time.

6. Cary Grant is her favorite actor. When she was in high school after Cary Grant died one of the cable stations ran a marathon, she watched his movies from 6 in the morning all day and night until 4 AM the next day.

7. Reading has always been an escape for her. She can devour a book in hours. When she moved in with her husband she literally donated over 1,000 books and saved over 1,000 for herself. She can reread books over and over again if she loves them. There are some that she has reread about once a year for the past 20 years.

8. She eloped after knowing her husband for only two months in 2006. They are still married over seven years later.

☆●☆☆●☆Hotseat☆●☆☆●☆ Five questions

1. What is your favorite dessert? Strawberry shortcake, but I don’t like it when the shortcake gets soggy, so I eat it really, really, really fast.
2. Coke or Pepsi? Coke, coke, coke and more coke.
3. Chocolate or vanilla? Yes please.
4. If you were a secret agent what would your codename be? Miss Terree
5. Love at first sight or lust at first sight? Both, the trick is knowing which one it is when it happens to you.

When Dreams Come True (The Star Series, #1)

When Dreams Come True (The Star Series, #1)

What would you do if one day all of your dreams came true?

Melissa 'Lissa' Loring was a successful author. She was happy living in her home at the base of the mountains in Tucson with her assistant, Hannah Mills. First the phone call came; they wanted to make one of her books into a movie. Within six months, she was flying out to Los Angeles and talking with the studio about the final script and a list of actors to play the roles. Excited about her lunch meeting, she was shocked when her muse for one of the characters walked in and sat down at the table with her.

Will Martinsson was riding high on his fame and loving every minute of it. He traveled the world meeting his legions of fans and could pick which roles he wanted. When the script was presented to him, he read it and was intrigued. Then he found out that the author had modeled the character after him, so he searched out information on her and his interest was piqued. He told the studio he wanted in, but he also wanted to meet her before he would sign on the dotted line.

When two independent, successful people meet and have a strong connection, there is nothing they can do but see where the dream takes them.

☆●☆☆●☆Hotseat☆●☆☆●☆ Nine questions with Katherine Rhodes

Today in my hotseat is the wonderful Katherine Rhodes. I adore her, she is one of the best  authors I have befriended.

About the author
Katherine Rhodes

Armed with her Bachelors of English, Literature from Montclair State University and a pen name, Katherine Rhodes has set her mind to writing erotic romances which are kinky, dirty, and fun. A lackadaisical laundry goddess, expert in the profundities of bad movies and awful literature, she resides in Philadelphia with her husband, three cats and a betta named Fishtian Grey.

☆●☆☆●☆Hotseat☆●☆☆●☆ Nine questions

1. If you could go back and reread any one book for the first time what would it be? It's actually a trilogy-- called the Fionavar Tapestry, by Guy Gavriel Kay. It was a gift from my high school English teacher and it was amazing, and still is. I reread it about once every two years.
2. Name one song you could listen to everyday and never grow tired of it. My Immortal, by Evanescence
3. Do you outline your story or fly by the seat of your pants? I think I'm turning into a reformed pantser. I've been plotting a bit lately and I kind of like it. I don't always stick to the plot, but it makes it easier when I don't know which way to go.
4.  If you could sit down with any Author for dinner who would it be and why? Anne McCaffery. I grew up loving everything about all of her books and all of the wonderful worlds she created. I loved getting lost in them. That she was a woman writing in SciFi at the time was amazing-- it was a male dominated world when she started and she didn't care.
5. You get to choose the car of your dreams what do you get? Lamborghini. Rust Red or smoke gray. I have dreamed of that car since I was about 7 years old. Le Sigh.
6. What's one author you wish more readers knew about? Nawal el Sadaawi. (Ok, look, I'm kind weird and really into all kinds of crazy things.) She's an author from Egypt, and she's amazing. She doesn't write long books, but they are poignant and just dig in your soul and pull out all the feels. ALL the FEELS. Start with The Circling Song.
7. What are you currently working on? The Darkest Corners, for The Club Series. It's a nice dirty BDSM erotica story. :D
8. Finish the sentence...A world without books would be --the wrong planet. We obviously took a wrong turn at Albuquerque.
9. Tell me something about you that would surprise most.
I'm ridiculously shy and awkward and have a terrible social phobia... most people are shocked to find that out because I come across as expressive and confident. I'm not. I'm a chicken.

☆●☆☆●☆Hotseat☆●☆☆●☆ Five questions with Lisa Suzanne

Today in the hotseat I have the supercool Lisa Suzanne, author of contemporary romance. She gave me a few minutes of her time recently and I am excited to have her on!

About the author

Lisa Suzanne started handwriting her books on yellow legal pads after she took a creative writing class in high school. She still has those legal pads full of stories, but now one of them is published under the title How He Really Feels. She currently works as a full time high school English teacher, and her favorite part of the year is summer. She has been blessed with the world’s best dog, a supportive family, and a husband who encouraged her to publish after reading one of her novels. She likes the advice of Ernest Hemingway’s famous quote, “Write drunk. Edit sober.”

 ☆●☆☆●☆Hotseat☆●☆☆●☆ Five questions

1.Do you prefer to write during the day or night? Before I published, I could only write really late at night! But now I write whenever I can fit it in.
2. Name one song you could listen to everyday and never grow tired of it. "Demons" by Imagine Dragons
3. What is your favorite dessert? Cheesecake! My favorite is the White Chocolate Caramel Macadamia Nut one from Cheesecake Factory
4.Do you outline your story or fly by the seat of your pants? I've always been a "pantser," which always felt extremely hypocritical given the fact that I teach high school English and I force my students to outline. But when I wrote Vintage, I needed to outline events because of the suspense angle. So I'm a recent convert from a "pantser" to a "planner."
5. What are you currently working on? I'm working on a series that was actually the first series I ever completed. I started writing it probably fifteen years ago and it has gone through many changes and revisions over the years. I'm actually contemplating putting the first version up on Wattpad and then publishing the new, revised version. It's so completely different! I can't wait to finish it and share it!

 Coming Soon! May 1st

Vintage (volume 1)

Born the daughter of a rock star and his groupie, my life should have been full of glitz and glamour. But the excess and embarrassment of that life didn’t interest me. Instead, I killed time at Vintage, a record store where I stocked shelves and lacked ambition.

Everything changed the moment I pressed play. One simple lyric awakened me.

When I stopped denying my attraction to the man behind the music, I started questioning his intentions. We were meant to cross paths, but it wasn’t because of fate.

Someone was playing with our lives.

☆●☆☆●☆Hotseat☆●☆☆●☆ Five questions with Emerson Shaw

The fantabulous Emerson has allowed me to pick her brain in the hotseat. I have gotten to know her and she has an awesome  quirky sense of humor. She makes me laugh!

About the author

Emerson Shaw (1977-present) was born and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio. She was the third born of three girls and had a very happy childhood. She graduated from the University of Cincinnati in 1999 with a Bachelors of Business Administration. After graduating, she built a career in the wine industry. She married her husband in 2004 and had their first son two years later. She sold and studied wine for nearly ten years, but the birth of her second child in 2008 led her to put a hold on her professional life. She quit her job to stay home to raise her children. Her sister had always encouraged her to write, but she thought the publishing industry was nearly impossible to break into. Then, the self-publishing industry began to explode. Emerson's children had gotten older and less dependent just as her sister started going through a difficult situation. The idea to write a fictional story inspired by her sister's experiences was born. Acts of Desperation is her debut novel.

☆●☆☆●☆Hotseat☆●☆☆●☆ Five questions

  1. When do I like to write, day or night?
I try to write every day from 9am-3:00pm until my kids come home from school then I become a mom/tutor to my two boys, Evan 8 and Will 6. But those gloriously quiet hours are clutch to get things done. I often take the weekends off to read and clear my head as well as have some quality time with my family.

  1. If stranded on an island what would I bring? Initially everything I thought of would require electricity and, well, that would be cheating so, I’d say my celebrity crush (right now Ryan Gosling, Ryan Reynolds, and Vince Vaugh). Rolling around in the sand with any of them would be a wonderful way to spend some time. Soap, because no one wants to be smelly and probably a source of fire. Gotta cook all that lobster and fish!

  1. Love or Lust at first sight, do I believe? I believe in lust at first sight, not love. I think I’ve experienced it enough to know that love takes time but lust is a powerful thing as well. Lust can lead to love.

  1. The song I could listen to over and over? Everlong by the Foo Fighters. It still gives me the chills and I’m pretty sure I’ve listened to it a million times.

  1. What am I currently working on? I’m working on editing my first book in my Hot Pursuit Series. It’s titled Straight Flushed and I’m very excited about it. One thing missing in a lot of books I’ve read over the years is strong female characters. A lot of writers have portrayed women as bumbling or ditzy, and hey, it has entertained me, I won’t lie and say that it hasn’t, but I think the time has come where we need to see women as strong leaders and role models. We birth babies. We hold families together. We work. We wipe noses. We do it all. People need to take notice that we are more than pretty faces that can cook and clean. Therefore, I’d like to read (and write) about more women with backbones and who don’t rely on a man to define them, who are smart, strong, and resilient. But, we all need love.

☆●☆☆●☆Hotseat☆●☆☆●☆ Five questions with Lisa Edward

Please welcome Lisa Edward author of  the Songbird series. She is  fantastic, I am glad to have on today.

About the author

Lisa Edward

While Lisa Edward has called Melbourne Australia home for her entire life, she has lived and worked in England, and travelled through most parts of Europe and the United States.

She loves nothing more than spending time with her husband and beautiful daughter, or curling up into the early hours of the morning with a great novel.

Her deep appreciation for literature was nurtured from a young age, being taught to respect books and get lost in their stories. She enjoys reading honest and realistic novels that are relatable, thought provoking and leave a lasting impression.

She can’t write without music playing, using the emotions from different songs to invoke that of her characters.

Lisa takes inspiration from her own life experiences, the people around her and those she has met in her travels.

☆●☆☆●☆Hotseat☆●☆☆●☆ Five questions

1. What is the greatest piece of writing advice you ever received?
Write for yourself. Write what you would want to read. Every reader is different and it's impossible to write a book that everyone will love, but if you try to please everyone, you will end up pleasing no one.

2. If you could tell your younger self one thing what would it be?
It's your life, your adventure, so don't be afraid. Don't be afraid to try everything, and if you fail, it doesn't matter. Don't be afraid to love completely, laugh loud and hard, and live life to the fullest. And don't worry about what anyone else thinks while you're doing it.

3. Do you outline your story or fly by the seat of your pants?
I try to briefly outline as far as a timeline goes, but my characters tend to dictate the way the story will go and there's no fighting it. The story flows more naturally if you just let it happen.

4. Love at first sight or lust at first sight?
At first sight would indicate you haven't spoken to the person yet, so I would have to say lust. I think love is a deeper, soul wrenching, change your life experience and I don't believe you can get that from just looking at someone. But you can definitely want to jump their bones if they have great arms and amazing eyes.

5. What are you currently working on?
I'm half way through a standalone romantic comedy novel, that will hopefully make people feel good and have a few laugh out loud moments. She's slightly dorky and he's an English guy who's straight talking with a bit of a dirty mouth. It's a departure from my series which is complex and angsty with loads of hot sexy scenes. It's a simple girl meets boy story which centers around their developing relationship, and of course there's a twist at the end.
